Copyediting

Your story is complete. The opening is strong, the action drives you forward, the characters are believable. You've spun a gripping tale that forces readers to keep turning those pages, no matter how early they have to get up in the morning.

But a great book is more than just the story. The words you use, or don’t use, matter. Do you have too many filter words, for example? How about comma splices? Or issues with your subject-verb agreements?

A copyedit isn’t just about grammar, either. Have you used the best words possible? Or too many words? Legendary sci-fi writers Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle would famously delete 10% of the words on every page, one page at a time.

A copyedit is where we take a headfirst dive into the words themselves, shine a torch on all those misplaced commas, and mercilessly cull extraneous words. This is the stage that turns your gripping plot into a polished masterpiece.
